Sarah Louise Cloonan, 31, of 845 Maryland Ave, Waynesboro, passed away on Monday morning, April 24, 2017, at VCU Medical Center, Richmond, after her courageous nine month battle against Aplastic Anemia. She was born in Waynesboro on April 8, 1986, a daughter of Steve Blaine and Terry (Dofflemyer) Cloonan.
Sarah attended Waynesboro High School and Fishersville Baptist Church and worked at Mary Baldwin University. Sarah never let her illness define who she was. She continued to enjoyed fashion, spending time with friends and family, fishing, camping and the beach. Spending time with her niece, McKinley was one of her favorite past times. She will be remembered for her giving heart, honest personality and feisty spirit.
Sarah was greeted into Heaven by her paternal grandparents, Earl and Louise Cloonan, and her cousin, Trisha Coyner. In addition to her parents, left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Clint and Tara Cloonan, Mathew Cloonan and his daughter, McKinley; maternal grandparents Quinlyn and Patrica Dofflemyer; aunts and uncles, Nancy (Cloonan) and Ronnie Fitzgerald, David and Debbie Cloonan, Jean (Cloonan) and Melvin Carpenter, Quinnie and Joe Dofflemyer, Mark Dofflemyer, Selina Dofflemyer, Kenny and Lisa (Dofflemyer) Baugh, and Phillip and Dawn (Dofflemyer) Carter; friends and caregivers, Emily Craddock and Elizabeth Mawyer; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Joseph Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Cole Cloonan, Dylan Coyner, Emily Craddock, Nathan Dofflemyer, Jacob Dooley and Travis Fitzgerald.
Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Adcock and Terry White.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Sarah's caregivers and the staff at the UVA HOPE Cancer Center, as well as the BMT and ICU teams at VCU for their loving care of Sarah and her family.
