Sandra Faye (Carter) Ferguson

Sandra Faye (Carter) Ferguson, 56, of Afton passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer. Sandra was born in Waynesboro on December 31, 1963, a daughter of the late Robert “Mutt” Carter and Alice Varner, who is surviving.

Sandra worked in the food industry for over 25 years. She greatly enjoyed going dancing and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Jeremy Wayne Kirt.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daughters, Jenny Thacker and husband, Timmy and Jessie Keys and husband, A.R.; siblings, Robert “Andy” Carter and wife, Naleen, Cora “Tootie” Marshall, and Tammy Buckingham and fiancé, Kevin Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Tamara Thacker, Timothy “Little Man” Thacker and fiancée, Kaylia, Laney Thacker, Landon Thacker, Nathaniel Keys, Bentley Keys, Bella Keys and Bryson Keys; great- grandchildren, Gunner Hannant and River Thacker; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Following cremation, the family will receive friends on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Accordius and the UVA Hope Cancer Center for the loving care of Sandra and her family.
