Robert Keith Willis (Buddy & Bob) of Waynesboro passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at River Edge Rehabilitation and Nursing. Robert was born in Afton on August 23, 1927, a son of the late Hugh “Ed” Willis and Mary Keith Willis.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in WWII and the Korean War. He was a destroyer and ice breaker sailor even visiting Antarctica. He retired from DuPont after 38 years of service. Robert was a lifetime member of Rodes United Methodist Church and for many years being the oldest member in age and membership.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 ½ years, Ruby Ward Willis; two brothers, Frank and Clyde Willis; and one nephew, John Willis.
Robert is survived by his two sons, Dennis (Barbara) and Harold (Glenda) all of Waynesboro; grandsons, Brian, Christopher, and Justin; granddaughter, Heather (Adam); great-grandchildren, Jacob, Benson, Berkley, Nolan, Aubree, and Grace; nephew, Paul; and nieces, Teresa, Margaret, Patsy and Melody.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Augusta Memorial Park, 1775 Goose Creek Road, Waynesboro with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating. All who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
