Richard Allen Hewitt

Ricky was born in Waynesboro to Cherry (Sampson) and Richard B. Hewitt on January 31st, 1959. Ricky was a man who deeply loved his family and made the best of every day he had. He was an avid hunter and loved to spend time in the woods. He adored his grandchildren and spent as much time with them as possible. Ricky worked for Waynesboro Nursery planting, digging, excavating and maintaining machinery for 14 years.

Ricky was preceded in death by his parents.

Ricky is survived by his wife of 46 years, Zoanna Hewitt; his daughters, Brandy Via and husband Keith of Staunton, Crystal Hewitt and Michael Mawyer Jr of Crimora; and son Jason Hewitt and wife Lacey of Stuarts Draft. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren, Dakota Hewitt and wife Lori, Katrina Layne, Aden Layne, Callie “Love Bug” Hewitt, and Lyla Hewitt; as well as great-grandchildren, Karmen, Cheyenne, Aira and Lola; a sister, Kathy Hewitt; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lastly, Ricky is survived by his special friends Ralph Richie, Sammy McGhee and Paul Wiseman who were like brothers to him.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 20th, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
