Born December 10, 1924 in Nelson County, she was the daughter of the late James Maryland and Gertrude Annie (Mawyer) Campbell.
As a young girl Mary worked for an apple orchard as a nipper and later during WWII worked at Wayne Manufacturing. She later retired from Rockfish Valley Elementary School where she worked in the cafeteria for many years. Mary was a volunteer at the Treasure Chest and enjoyed mowing, tending to both her flower and vegetable gardens, riding her stationery bike, playing solitaire, Bent and Wiggly Puzzles, reading, singing old hymns, cooking for family and baking her delicious pumpkin rolls.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chesley Harold Puckett; siblings, Lucy, Angus, Pauline, Ruth, Maryland, Kathleen, Rupert and Gordon. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Allison Richey and husband, Jack and their children, Zachery, Savannah and Jackie; son, Harold Lee Puckett and wife, Diane and their son, Jeff Puckett and his daughter, Hayley; daughters, Sharon and Karen; grandson, Tony Quick and wife, Alisha and their daughters, Kaitlyn and Morgan; as well as other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Wintergreen Christian Church Cemetery with Pastor Gregory Cummings officiating. Those who plan to attend the service are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
There will no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
