Born December 4, 1934 in Augusta County, she was the daughter of the late J. Titus and Mary Irene (Strickler) Bell.
Mrs. Barker previously worked in shipping at Genicom and held various positions with the former G.E. Company before retiring after 40+ years of faithful service. One of her greatest loves in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed working outdoors and landscaping her yard. Mary will be remembered by those who knew her as someone who was so very giving of her time and always willing to give to a charitable cause.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, David Barker; grandson, Derek Barker; son-in-law, Dan Garber; brothers, J. Titus Bell, Jr. and Charles W. Bell.
Survivors include her loving husband of 60+ years, Henry W. Barker; children, Henry W. Barker, Jr. and wife Patricia of Waynesboro, Donna B. Garber of Waynesboro and Debra Shifflett and husband Jeffrey; grandchildren, Brian Barker, Chad Garber, Jason Barker, Heather Shifflett, Stephanie Barker, Brandon Barker, Kristi Sharp, April Wright and Tabetha Patterson; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Paul W. Bell of Waynesboro; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., with Rev. Donald Long officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Chad Garber, Brian Barker, Fred Kratlinger, John Sharp, Torrey Patterson and Robert Warren.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the funeral home.
