He was born December 3, 1949, a son of the late Allen B. and Katherine (Massie) Monroe.
Lonnie served in the United States Army, stationed at Fort Collins in Colorado. Lonnie was involved in sports his entire life as a player, coach, and referee for over 37 years. Lonnie retired as a security guard after 20 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie McGann.
Survivors include his wife, Rosemary (Ross) Monroe; daughters, Mary A. Sheffer, Marcie A. Monroe; brothers, Earl Monroe and wife Joy, Steve Monroe and wife Diane; sisters, Carolyn Lawson and husband Charles, Debbie Beale, Betty Decker; grandchildren, William Bradshaw Thomas and Caleb S. Holzworth; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.
