Born November 24, 1933 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Robert Guy and Florence Humphries Fitzgerald.
K.C. was a member of Wayside Baptist Church, Waynesboro. Prior to retirement, he worked as a bus driver for Vector Industries. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post #340. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, riding motorcycles and going camping. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemarie Bradley Fitzgerald; his second wife, Betty Jarret Fitzgerald; two sons, Johnny Lee Fitzgerald and Kenneth C. Fitzgerald, Jr.; grandson, R.W. Fitzgerald; and three sisters, Kitty Cash, Bobbie Landes, and Sissy Nelson.
Survivors include three sons, Robert Fitzgerald and wife, Shelia of Crimora, Steve Fitzgerald and wife, Elizabeth of Dooms, and Charles Fitzgerald and wife, Rachelle of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Jo Rankin and Shirley Fitzgerald; a number of nieces and nephews; and his k-9 companion, Pedro.
Those wishing to pay their respects and sign the guestbook may do so from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2020 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro. Due to COVID-19 all will be required to wear a facemask and practice social distancing.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Augusta Memorial Park, 1775 Goose Creek Road, Waynesboro. All who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery. COVID-19 restrictions will apply with facemasks and social distancing.
