Born June 9, 1955 in Charlottesville, VA he was the son of the late William Robert Thompson and Mary Jane (Pugh) Thompson.
Prior to retirement, Jackie worked in retail merchandise with multiple locations over a wide area of operations in Virginia. He enjoyed playing Bingo, selling at local flea markets, and going to auctions.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Franklin Thompson, Roger Thompson, James “Randy” Thompson, Ricky Thompson, and Gary Thompson; and a nephew, Chad Thompson.
Survivors include brothers, Wesley Thompson of Crimora and Ernest “Ernie” Thompson of Faber; nieces, Michele Marks of Crozet and Towanna Thompson of Crimora; and aunt, Florence Carter of Afton. In addition, Jackie is survived by great nieces and nephews, Kaitlyn Harman, Jacob Harman, Nicholas Thompson, Kelsey Parrish, Madison Marks, Caleb Gundry, Michael Gundry; and great-great nieces, Kiyah Hunt and Kalara Beverlin.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Wild Rose Cemetery, 1380 Pounding Creek Rd, Batesville, VA 22930, with Pastor Josh Shifflett officiating. All who plan to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery.
Following the service, friends and family are invited to gather at 1:00 p.m. at the Waynesboro Moose Lodge #1309, 481 Hopeman Pkwy, Waynesboro, VA 22980 for a time of fellowship and remembrance.
There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116.
