Glenn was born in Virginia to Mae (Wimer) Slack and James O. Slack Jr. on April 11, 1946. He was a loving, dedicated, and wise family man who always put everyone else first. Glenn was a trustee at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren in Grottoes and was a man who not only had a deep faith, but quietly lived his faith every day. Glenn worked for DuPont for 30 years before starting a lengthy career with the Augusta County Service Authority, where he eventually retired as the Director of Treatment Operations. He was also a lifelong caregiver to his daughter, and a dedicated advocate for the disabled through the ARC of Virginia and ARC of Augusta. In his spare time, Glenn was a massive fan of JMU football and enjoyed spending time with family at games in Harrisonburg. He also had a quick wit and a dry sense of humor that those who knew him best will dearly miss.
In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 50 years, Betty (Boyers) Slack.
Glenn is survived by his cherished daughters, Lauren Sandercock and husband, Michael, and Lindsey Slack, both of Waynesboro. In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren, Zachary, Ellie and Willow; and sisters, Carolyn Rollins and husband, Dan, and Charlotte Podgorski, both of South Carolina. He is also survived by his dear sister-in-law, Sandy Roach; and numerous nieces and nephews.
