Elsie Coffman Henderson of Waynesboro, joined our Lord and Savior Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in Virginia Beach. Elsie was born December 5, 1918 in Huntington, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Jesse Rife Coffman Westcott and Roy Coffman.
Elsie lived most of her life in Waynesboro, VA. She began her career with the Clifton Forge-Waynesboro Telephone Company in 1937. She first served the company as a Dial Service Assistant Operator and retired as Operator Services Manager after more than 35 years of loyal service.
Elsie was predeceased by her loving husband, William D. Henderson Sr. and her sister, Dorothy R. Puckett. Survivors include her three wonderful children: a son, William D. Henderson Jr. and wife, Faye of Colonial Heights, a devoted daughter, Joanne H. Rasmussen and husband, Rod of Virginia Beach, and a son, Gary C. Henderson and wife, Anna of Stuarts Draft. She had nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was an avid collector of antiques and fine collectables. Elsie touched the lives of everyone she met with her quick wit, generous spirit and flair for style.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St.
