Ellis M. Martin

He was born March 2, 1924 in Powhatan County,VA., a son of the late George Miller and Elva Lillie Hubbard Martin.

He was a Navy Veteran, having served his country during World War ll.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesboro, was the former owner of Martin’s Shoe Store and worked in the shoe department of Peebles Department Store.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Betty Anderson Martin, three sons; George Martin, David Martin and wife Flora, John Martin, all of Waynesboro, a daughter, Jane M. Pattison and husband Dennis of Herndon, six grandchildren; Stephanie Martin Rose, Christopher Martin, Laura R. Moorer, Ellis Fravel, Rebekah Kenney, Linda Martin and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 27, 2013 at First Baptist Church by the Rev. David Washburn.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 PM Thursday at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.

The family would like to thank the staff and nurses of Avante’ for their care given to Mr. Martin.
