He was born July 12, 1946 in Staunton, Virginia to the late Glenn Edward and Verlin Mae Loftis Hahn.
He was a member of Second Presbyterian Church of Waynesboro and retired in 2001 as a teacher from Waynesboro High School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Franklin Hahn.
In 1969 he joined the Waynesboro Players, where he served as past President and remained an active board member.
He received the Virginia Speech Teacher Award in 1999, enjoyed ceramic art, attending art shows and possessed many creative abilities himself.
He graduated from Kentucky’s Morehead State University and taught for 33 years in the Waynesboro School System.
Over several decades, Hahn directed and acted in productions with the Waynesboro Players and was one of the authors of “Shenandoah Moon”. He also was instrumental in writing the script for “Tuesday Mourning”, a story of six young men from Bedford who grew up together and went to war together.
He was respected by both his peers and students, and his demeanor was that of a true Southerner.
Survivors include three brothers, Connie “Mack” Hahn and his wife Garnet of Aiken, SC, Ronald M. Hahn and his wife Linda of Afton, Tony L. Hahn and his wife Cathy of Stuarts Draft, a sister, Linda Hahn Cash of Crimora, nephews, Doug Hahn, Kevin Hahn, Michael Hahn, Bryan Hahn, nieces, Robin Arey, Angie Hewitt, Linda LaVallie, Jessica Hahn, Ronda Bretthauer, Kim Humphrey, Karen Shockley, Billie Jo Overton, a special great great niece, Breanna Berry, numerous other great nieces and great nephews, special friends Skip, Michael, Dale, Tim, Craig, Gene, Kent and Steve.
He also leaves his loving companion dog, “Teddy”.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, February 7, 2011 at Corner Stone Church of Augusta, 1156 Tinkling Spring Rd, Fishersville, with Pastor Greg Mayo officiating.
A private family burial will follow at a later date.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
