She was born in Charlottesville, VA to the late Henry Russell and Pauline Mawyer Whitlock on February 2, 1939.
Dorothy was a Certified Nursing Assistant for 23 years prior to becoming a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard N. Thompson; sister, Betty Knowlton; and special friend, Carolyn Fitzgerald.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Judy Campbell-Allen (Bucky) and Robert Jones; Grandchildren, Stephanie and Heather Jones, Tiffany Taylor (Jason), Ryan Campbell (Jennifer), Meagan Hammer (Ian); great grandchildren, Maurice Johnson, RJ Johnson, Hunter Campbell, Zaydee Campbell, Casey Hammer, and one on the way; special friends, Gail Huffman and Tosha Thorne.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at Augusta Memorial Park with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating. All who plan to attend the service are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
There will be no public viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
