Mrs. Hall was born on August 1, 1938 in Washington County, VA and was the youngest of two daughters, born to James Lester and Grace Pearl (Trent) Spriggs. Dot worked for Virginia Metal Crafters as an inspector for many years prior to her retirement. She faithfully attended the Waynesboro Church of Christ. Mrs. Hall fought many battles in her life, but she always won because they only strengthened her bond with GOD. She staunchly and humbly clung to her savior through the Great Depression, the tragic death of her mother at a young age, and the loss of the great loves of her life. Dot was a bright and critical mind, quick to laugh, and always ready with a hug. She once said, “I’m like an old stray dog, I’ll make friends with anybody.” She was the playful spirit that will live eternally in the memory of her son, granddaughters, extended family, and innumerable close friends.
Dot was preceded in death by her former husband, Earl Dean Dyson, who gave her what she considered to be one of the greatest blessings in her life, her only child. She was later married to Billy James “Bill” Hall for nearly 20 years prior to his death in 2000, and together they shared many wonderful years and a couple of very special cats.
Mrs. Hall is survived by her loving son, Robert Dean Dyson and his wife Terri Lynn of Grottoes; the greatest gifts she ever received, her two granddaughters, Megan Nichole Dyson, and Allison Lynn Dyson and husband Evan Brust. She promised to love them the most, and she did. She is also survived by her sister, Sylvia June McVey, who has been her rock and constant as long as she’s been alive; special friends, Barbara Harris, Bonnie Austin-Heitz, and Betty Jean “Jeania” Hester.
At Dot’s request, there will be no services, and her body will be cremated.
