Doris Lee (Campbell) Cooke, 95, of Waynesboro passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at Augusta Health. She was born in Nelson County on August 6, 1921, a daughter of the late Homer and Bessie Campbell.
Doris was employed by the General Wayne Hotel and the Waynesboro Country Club. She was a member of Beech Grove Christian Church. Doris had a great passion for music and loved to play the piano and guitar. She also had a great knowledge and love of cars and the outdoors. Doris was a devoted and loving mother.
Doris was preceded in death by her son, Delmore G. Cooke, Jr., former husband and father of her children, Guy D. Cooke, Sr.; siblings, Thomas Campbell, Caskie Campbell, Josephine Dodd and Frances Zirkle Brooks.
Survivors include her daughters, Carole Saunders and husband, Larry, Donna Lindley and husband, Glenn, and Glenda Washburn and her husband, Patrick; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; as well as numerous niece, nephews, and friends.
Burial will be private at Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Doris’s memory to Beech Grove Christian Church, 1207 Beech Grove Road, Roseland, VA 22967.
