Born October 6, 1950 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late Theodore R. and Mabel (East) Campbell.
Mr. Campbell was a member of New Hope Community Church. Early in life he worked as a house painter in the Albemarle County area. He had recently been employed with Fisher Auto Parts and worked as a delivery driver. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends and watching car races.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Hazel Dooms and Judy Copper; as well as brother, Ray Campbell; niece, Lisa Smith; nephews, Teddy and Stacy.
Survivors include his loving wife of 27 years, Etta M. Campbell; special mother-in-law, Helen Snead; brothers, Robert Campbell and wife Barbara of Troy, VA and Theodore Campbell and companion Virginia Maupin of Crozet, VA; sisters, Louise Richardson of Waynesboro and Joan Smith and husband Mike of Waynesboro; Uncle and Aunt, Preston and Phyllis East of Waynesboro; nieces and nephews, Debbie Thorton and husband Michael of Palmyra, Steve Lively and wife Vickie of Afton, VA, Pat Reynard and husband Donald of Palmyra, VA, Kim Lively of Charlottesville, Kathy Campbell of Troy, VA, Susan Bernaldo and husband Dan of Kent Store, VA, Tony Dooms and wife Charmin of Crimora, VA and Leslie and Chris Britches of Fishersville; great-nieces and nephews, Jack and Grace Bernaldo, Lacey and Lucas Dooms and Brenden and Carter Ross Britches, Crystal and Amber Lively and Tiffany Campbell and Lauren Beale.
A funeral service will held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main Street, with Pastor James Carroll Martin, Jr. and Rev. Dr. J.W. Steed officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Tony Dooms, Tracy Richardson, Donnie Layne, Melvin Clark, John Smith and William Cobb.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the funeral home.
