Obituary of David George Saben
David George Saben, 83, died peacefully at home in the care of his wife, Loretta F. Saben, family members and hospice on November 11, 2022. He was born to Russell G. Saben and Lois L. (Thompson) Saben on November 16, 1938 in Cleveland, OH. David was a devoted son, husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of Waynesboro Free Methodist Church and enjoyed being an unofficial greeter to all who attended in recent years. Above all else, he loved and served God however he could. David worked at Kroger a few years after the family moved to Waynesboro in 1960. Then he worked at G.E. and joined the apprentice training program for more education. He worked at G.E. 25 years and then Genicom a few years. After that, he did some short-term jobs and then worked at McQuay retiring from there in 2001. David was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Janice Yanky; and brother, William Saben. David is survived by his wife, Loretta, of 64 years; sons, Timothy Saben (Sara) and Michael Saben (Megan); two daughters, Marian Ulman (Robert) and Rebecca Francisco (Eddie); four granddaughters, Marissa Ulman (Dr. Salil Desai), Leah U. Munster (Drayton), Michaela D. Ulman, and Paula E. Saben; five grandsons, Henry G. Saben, David R. Saben, John H. Saben, Philip M. Saben, and Edward B. Saben; two great-grandchildren, Vanessa Munster and Ivy Munster; brother-in-law, Buford V. Frye; two sisters-in-law, Mary F. Ziglar (Fred) and Ruth F. McColley (Dean); and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Waynesboro Free Methodist Church, 600 Hopeman Parkway, Waynesboro. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at the church with Pastor Scott Brodd officiating. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park, Waynesboro. The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to Hospice of the Shenandoah for their love and care of David.
