Born on July 25, 1954, in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, he was a son of the late Jeanette Marjorie Olauson and Dale Charles Perry. His childhood took him across different places, including the San Francisco Bay Area and Salt Lake City. Following his mother's divorce and subsequent marriage to Duane Elmer Christian, Dave's family settled in Carson City, Nevada, where he completed his high school education.
Dave's academic journey led him to Dixie College, where he earned a football scholarship before transferring to Brigham Young University, where he graduated in 1978 with a B.S. in Psychology. Following his graduation, Dave relocated his family to the picturesque Pacific Northwest. For over three decades, he dedicated his career to the toy industry, forging a rewarding path as the Founder & CEO of Cascade Toy, Inc. Dave's toy creations brought him immense fulfillment, bringing joy to children globally and becoming cherished companions throughout countless playtimes. His pride and joy was the Harry Potter toy line developed under Play Visions. These plush toys held a special corner in his heart, particularly as he experienced the joy they brought to his beloved grandchildren. In 2007, Dave embarked on a transformative career change, earning a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology.
Dave's deep adoration for his wife was evident throughout their remarkable 47-year marriage. Fondly remembered, he is survived by his devoted wife, Joanne (née Boyle) Perry, who always stood by his side and usually with her hand in his. Together, they raised five children who brought immeasurable joy to their lives: Alison Haley (Matt) of Dalton, Nebraska; Darci Baumchen (Elan) of Monroe, Washington; Candice Braaten (Roger) of Monroe, Washington; William Perry (Valori) of London, England; Thomas Perry (Brenna) of Bridgewater, Virginia. Dave and Joanne have sixteen cherished grandchildren who hold him close in their hearts. He is also survived by his siblings: LouAnn, Caulene, Sherese, Shelly, Lara, Apryl, and Michael, who remain an integral part of his legacy and family.
Dave's unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ and his commitment to His teachings were evident through his steadfast membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His faith provided a guiding light in his life; shaping his values and actions as he sought to emulate the teachings of Christ. From 1973 to 1975, he dedicated himself as a young missionary, serving in the England Leeds Mission. Throughout his adult years, he wholeheartedly fulfilled various callings within the church, including serving as a Bishop, Young Men's leader, and Scout Leader, where he was awarded the prestigious Silver Beaver. More recently, Dave and Joanne concluded a service mission in Frankfurt, Germany, where Dave's invaluable expertise as an Area Mental Health Advisor benefited hundreds of young missionaries throughout Europe. He provided guidance, support and equipped them with the tools to navigate complex situations.
Coaching is where Dave truly thrived. His disarmingly sincere and sensitive nature blossomed as he applied a coaching mindset to parenting; devotedly and enthusiastically embracing his role as a loving father and doting grandfather. Whether it was coaching his sons' football teams or offering guidance and counsel in home, church and professional settings, countless individuals relied on Dave's steady advice and wisdom. He found immense joy in unlocking potential within others. While his family gratefully embraced his guidance, we also treasure the unique and delightful sense of humor he brought into our lives, as memories of his wit and humor continue to brighten our days.

In celebration of Dave and to grant him the last word, he would encourage you to ponder one of his most cherished teachings from Jesus Christ, eloquently expressed in John 14:27:
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
May these words bring solace and inspire tranquility in your hearts, echoing Dave's desire for all to find inner peace amidst life's challenges.
