Born November 20, 1932 in Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Jonas Earle and Nora (Miller) Sayre.
Prior to retirement, Betty was employed by Wilson Trucking as a clerk where she was a faithful employee for 42 years. She was a member of Waynesboro Church of the Brethren. As a church member, she had previously served as a Sunday School teacher. Betty will be remembered for her knitting and macrame skills, and as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Ovie Rowe; daughter-in-law, Teresa Rowe; sisters, Louise Vahkil and Bonnie Ankers; and brother, John Sayre.
Survivors include her son, Michael E. Rowe of Waynesboro; grandchildren, William L. Rowe, Michael E. Rowe, Jr., Justin O. Rowe, and Laura N. White; great-grandchildren, Schuylar, Jeremiah, Jeffrey, Charleigh, and Roniah; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Augusta Memorial Park, 1775 Goose Creek Road, Waynesboro with Pastor E.B. Shoemaker officiating. All who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
Following the graveside service, a visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 364 Bridge Ave., Waynesboro with a memorial service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
