Beatrice was born in Augusta County to Charlie and Effie Parr on February 10, 1927. She retired from GE after many years of working on the factory floor. Beatrice was a founding member of Wayside Baptist Church in Waynesboro and was a very active member there. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cherishing the time she had to spend with them. She also enjoyed making quilts in her spare time.
In addition to her parents, Beatrice is preceded in death by her husband, Leon Glen Rankin; and her brothers, Rev. Bowman Parr, Carl Parr, Jr. Parr and Moward Parr.
Beatrice is survived by her children, Ernest L. Rankin of Florida and Bonnie L. Hallowell of South Carolina; her grandchildren, Sherry Fitzgerald and husband, Bruce, Sonda Shirrel and husband, Allen, Steve “Monk” Fitzgerald Jr., Tonya “Satch” Salisbury and husband, Carey, Jason Rankin, Justin Rankin, Nathan Rankin, and Kaitlyn Rankin. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Ashley, Braden, Sean, Stephanie, Phillip, Heather and Redick; and her great-great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Camden, Eli, Brantley, Jayden and Amare.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Augusta Memorial Park, 1775 Goose Creek Road, Waynesboro with Pastor Levi Smith officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Jason Rankin, Nathan Rankin, Justin Rankin, Bruce Holden, Phillip Fitzgerald, and Steve Fitzgerald, Jr.
Memorials may be sent in Beatrice’s name to Wayside Baptist Church.
