Rick is survived by his loving wife of almost 57 years, Linda. Loving dad of son Ricky (Des); and daughter Sara. He was the world's greatest Poppop to granddaughters Kayla, Emily, Jenna, Allison; grandsons Dylan, Wyatt, and Tyson; and great-grandsons Daxtyn and Colsyn. Dearest brother of Susan (Frank), and Daniel. He was a beloved brother in law, uncle, cousin and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Jason and daughter in law Julie; and sister Donna.
Rick was born on May 13, 1947 to John A. and Elsie Schultz in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He grew up in Romulus where he graduated from Romulus High School. Throughout his teenage years he worked on his uncle's farm in Wayne where his love of farming began. He followed in his father's footsteps to become a carpenter, earning his Journeyman's license from Local Union 982 of Detroit in 1973. His professional career spanned over the next four decades.
Rick married Linda Powell of Dexter, MI on July 1, 1967. Rick lived with his beloved wife and his first child, Ricky, in an apartment in Allen Park. They moved to his uncle's farm in Webberville in 1969 for three years. They then found their forever home in Wayne (only because it had a garage big enough to fit his tractor). Their second child, Jason, was then born in 1973, followed by Sara in 1981. This is where Rick and Linda raised their family and have spent over the past 50 years.
Rick enjoyed many activities which included hunting, fishing, going out on his boat, eating Polish food, going to flea markets and tractor pulls, but his passion was working on his Uncle Ed's farm. However, he enjoyed his family the most, spending much of his time with his seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
