Age 89, March 7, 2024. Beloved wife of Richard J and daughter of Harry Rill and Eleanor (nee Jenkins) Letourneau, who preceded her in death. Loving mother of Rick (Denise), Bill (Carol), Mike (Laura), Mary (Jim) Dunn, Kathleen (David) Reynolds, Patrick (Tony). Dearest grandmother of Rich (Erica), Courtney (Alan), Mackenzie (Brian), Lindsey (Luke), Cristine (Mike), Jonathon (Liz), Aubrey (Brad), Austin, Emma, Jenny Tackett, Nick (Courtney), Alli, Mariel, Rosanna (Ryan), Charles, Robert, Jackson, LisaMarie, and Isabella. Great grandmother to (Emmy), (Ashton, Eleanor, William, Louise, Irene, Henri, Joseph, Raphael, Sebastian, Jacob, Daniel, Caleb, Joshua), (Carter, Brody, and Milo). Sister of Gene Letourneau.
Originally from Detroit, she moved several times throughout the city and metro area. She started as an East-sider, eventually settled in Taylor for the first five years of her marriage where she had her first five children, and then moved to Wayne, MI in 1962. She was a devoted servant to the Catholic Church and loyal parish member of St. Mary’s in Wayne for 62 years. Mary Lou shared her love and talents in the parish and archdiocese as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, Worship Commission, Catholic Family Movement Member, Holy Thursday Coordinator, Women’s Society, Marriage Class instructor, Archdiocesan Pastoral Council, first female Vincentian leader (honored at the 2019 Inaugural Top Hat Ball) and a 25 year veteran for St. Vincent de Paul, CSA Home visiting team, Parish Decorating Committee, RCIA sponsor, AIDS Awareness Team, Angela House/Hospice Volunteer, Christ Renew His Parish Team, Liturgical Environment Committee, and member of the Parish Council.
Mary Lou was a strong sports enthusiast and devoted spectator for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She could be seen supporting her offspring in the Detroit metro area and the State of Michigan on the courts, fields, and tracks at Divine Child, Wayne St. Mary, Livonia St. Michael, Our Lady of Good Counsel, Canton All Saints, Ann Arbor Spiritus Sanctus, Brother Rice, Grand Valley State, Loyola University Chicago, U of D-Mercy, University of Notre Dame, and University of Michigan-Dearborn.
Mary Lou loved to travel the world with her husband taking trips and cruises to Alaska, Florida, Greece, Mexico, Spain, Italy, France, and spent 37 summers making memories on Houghton Lake.
