Joyce Moore, 95, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025, in Westland, Michigan. Born on June 29, 1929, Joyce lived a full and vibrant life marked by dedication to her family, career, and community.
Joyce worked as a nurse in Wayne, Michigan, and later in Lakeland, Florida, where she touched countless lives with her compassion and dedication. Her career reflected her deep commitment to helping others.
She is predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Moore, and her son, Grant Moore. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Margaret Harrison (Mike), Kenneth Moore (Sandi), Robin Moore, Brenda Bruner (Paul), Leslie Casey (Steve), and Shelly Moore-Nigg (Tom). Joyce’s legacy also lives on through her 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
In Florida, Joyce embraced an active lifestyle. She enjoyed golfing and was a proud member of the Red Hatters Society, Scrabble Group, Widows Walk, and Rosary Group. She also delighted in attending stage plays. After returning to Michigan later in life, she became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her faith was central to her life; she worshipped at the Church of the Resurrection in Lakeland and St Mary’s in Wayne.
Joyce’s strength and resilience were hallmarks of her character. Her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to causes close to her heart such as Talbot House Ministries in Lakeland and organizations like the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund, Disabled American Veterans, and St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Arrangements will be made in Michigan at a later date to honor Joyce’s remarkable life. May her memory bring comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.
