In 1968 James joined the United States Army, while serving his country James fought in Vietnam War as a parachuter 54 Infantry Marksman.
James left the United States Army in 1971 with a honorable discharge and holding numerous awards and honors for his bravery. Such as a National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Metal, Vietnam Service Campaign Medal, Combat Infantry Man Badge and Marksman Badge just to name a few.
In 1972 James made a career at Ford Motor Car Company in the steel unit as a line operator and vessel operator during this time he met and married his loving wife Marlene Holloway they have been married for 23 years until his death. James retired from Ford's in July 2004.
In June 2006 James became the commander of the VFW Post 3943 in Monroe, Michigan in 2007 James had to end his leadership at the VFW Post due to his illness. James also enjoy being in the company of his best friend Little Mack, Jewels, Chicken and Big Boo and a host of other family and friends.
James departed this life on July 29, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving wife and family. He leaves to cherish his loving memory: 2 sons, Donnie and Kenneth, 5 daughters, Tamika, Erica, Tiwonna, Tara and Rona, 4 granddaughters, Mariah, Anasia, Trezure and Bryonna, 4 grandsons, Bruce, Elijah, Jaylen and Brennon and one great-granddaughter Trisonna, 2 brother's, Michael and Douglas Holloway and a host of other relatives and friends. A visitation for James will be held on Thursday, August 6th from 1pm until 8pm at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 34567 Michigan Ave. in Wayne. A funeral service for James will be at the funeral home on Friday, August 7th at 11:00 a.m., with an in-state time at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
