Alphonse "Al" Michael Ignas, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, at the age of 88. Al was surrounded by the love of his two daughters, Cathy and Carol, during his final moments.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on April 29, 1936, Al was the son of Michael and Stella Ignas. Al graduated from Chadsey High School before enlisting in the United States Army, where he proudly served for three years. Stationed in France, Al drove a gas tanker during his military service and was honorably discharged after completing his duty.
In 1957, Al married Sue Etta Wofford, the love of his life. Together, they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Al and Sue enjoyed many happy years traveling and making lasting memories together.
Al worked at Ford Motor Company - Livonia Transmission Plant for 34 years before retiring. He spent his retirement enjoying his favorite pastimes: solving crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, watching old western movies, and spending time with family.
Al’s legacy of love and dedication lives on in his daughters, Cathy (Michael) Henson and Carol (Scott) LeMieux; his cherished grandchildren, Michelle Henson and Bryan (Dominique) Henson; and his great-grandchildren, Me'Kyle, Kayleigh, Layla, Bella, Grace, and Christina. Al was also a proud and loving “grandfather” to his granddogs, Roux, Chaos, and Belle. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and one sister, who he held close in memory.
