Roman R. Lapekes, aged 90, passed away December 6, 2012 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his wife: Martha; his daughters: Lori Lapekes, Lisa (Dan) Johnson, and Lorraine (Aaik VanderPloeg) Lapekes; granddaughters: Jennifer (Justin) Vandenburg, Shaunna Lawrence, and Tera (Brian) Wierenga; great-grandchildren: Taylor Olds, Aiden Davis and Zachary Wierenga; brothers: Louis (Nina) Lapekes, Howard (Dorothy) Lapekes, and Lawrence (Cindy) Lapekes; sister Lorraine Ostrander; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Larry Lapekes. Roman served his country during WWII in the US Army, serving on the Red Ball Express. On October 27, 1956, he married Martha Geller. Roman worked for Doehler-Jarvis, but the work he loved most was farming. He was known for his sweet corn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 A.M. Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at S.S Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, 159 131st Ave., Wayland, with Father Christian Johnston as celebrant. Contributions may be made to the SS Cyril & Methodius Building Fund or a charity of your choice. Family will greet friends and relatives 6-8 P.M. Tuesday at Kubiak-Cook Family Services, 312 N.
