Louis "Snuffy" Schmidt

Louis “Snuffy” Schmidt, age 92 of Dorr, went to be with the Lord, May 6, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his parents Aloyis and Anna Schmidt; step-dad John Schmidt and his siblings Ed, Allie, Stan, John, Leona, Adeline, Sylvia, Louise, Mary, and infant brother Ron.  He is survived his sister Patricia Dean and brother-in-law Leroy Doxey many nieces, nephews and many extended family and friends. Snuffy proudly served in the U. S. Navy in WWII.  He retired from Reynolds Metals after many years. He was on the Dorr Fire Department for 55 years and taught fire safety to the students.  He was traffic control officer in Dorr and other areas for many years. Snuffy was a beloved uncle who has a soft heart and loved to help everyone.  He always had a joke and fishing story.  The Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 am Friday, May 10, 2019 at St. Mary’s Visitation Catholic Church, 2459 146th Ave. SW, Byron Center. Fr. Christopher Derda will be presiding. Interment will be at Dorr Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 4-8pm Thursday, at Kubiak-Cook Funeral Home 4330 18th Street, Dorr.  Rosary service will be held at 4 pm Thursday.  In honor of Snuffy, contributions may be made to Catholic Schools care of St. Stanislaus, St. Mary’s or St. Therese School.
