Hannah Amborski, age 87 of Wayland, passed away peacefully with her family by her bedside, Tuesday, January 17, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents Archibald and Elizabeth Gregg; siblings Tom, Bill, Lil, and Mary. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Larry Amborski; daughters Terry (Mike) Davis, Andrea (Robert) VandenBerg; seven grandchildren Rashell (Nicole) Bowerman, Tanya (Quinn) Perry, Benjamin (Brittany) Davis, Matthew (Stephanie) Davis, Chet (Jess) VandenBerg, Casey (Jenna) VandenBerg, Carly (Ben) Schipper; 11 great-grandchildren Hannah, Hayden, Hudson, Brennan, Carsen, Olivia, Owen, Carver, Merritt, Arlo, Savannah; siblings Anne Lindsey, Anne Wright, Robert Gregg, Morgan Morris, Marsha (Ron) Murray; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Hannah was born in Belfast, Ireland, the youngest in an Air Force family. As a teen, she moved to England where she met her future husband, Larry, who was serving in the Air Force. They married in 1956, had Terry, and returned to the United States in 1958. They made their home in Hilliards with family before moving to Wayland where they would spend the next 60 years. She was a stay-at-home mom volunteering at St. Therese Catholic School and then went to work for several years at Rogers Department Store. In her later years, she and Larry delivered cars across the United States for local car dealerships. She was a member of TBPA (Transatlantic Brides and Parents Association), where she made many lifelong friends. Hannah was very supportive of family activities, following her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in school and sporting events. Her hobbies included card and bingo playing and traveling to casinos. She was always ready to act as host and tour guide to family visiting from overseas. She was fortunate enough to travel back and forth to Great Britain over 20 times to keep in touch with family.
A casual celebration of life gathering and lunch will be held Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 1:00-4:00 pm at St Therese Catholic Church, 128 Cedar Street, Wayland, Michigan. A special thank you to the staff at Alamo Nursing Home in Kalamazoo for their loving care and support of Hannah and Larry during the past few months. The family welcomes memories and messages in their guest book online at www.kubiakcookwayland.com.
