Gary Allen Statler, age 61, passed away on January 3, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford and Helen Statler. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 39 years, Diane Statler; his children Heather Standish, Brandon (Robin) Statler, Elizabeth (Trevor) Bodell, Katie (Shawn) Misak; grandsons Tyler, Leland, Drew, Graydon, Cole, Emmett, Wyatt, Felix; his siblings Ben (Angela Fuchs) Statler, Julie (Ron) Wynsma, David Statler; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Gary loved all things outdoors. Those included hunting, camping, trapping, fishing, snowmobiling, and tending to his vegetable garden. He was not one to sit still and loved tinkering. This was reflected in his career choice as a mechanic at Wayland Chevrolet. Most importantly, he loved his family. Gary loved spending time and teasing his grandsons and just being together as a family.
Visitation with the family will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Unity Baptist Church, 3514 12th St., Wayland, MI 49348. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Unity Baptist Church with visitation from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Gary will be laid to rest at Hooker Cemetery.
