She retired from Wayland Union Transportation Department after 27 years of service - first as a driver, then secretary for the transportation supervisor, and then ending her career as transportation supervisor. In her retirement life, she loved to go boating with her husband, Stanley, go on rides to check out the countryside, covered bridges, and water wheels, and going to get ice cream. She was also a dog mom to her beloved dog, Dixie.
At her request, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Wayland VFW Post #7581, 735 S. Main St., Wayland, MI 49348. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice or The Laurels of Sandy Creek. We would like to thank the staff at the Laurels of Sandy Creek, Maplewood Assisted Living Center, her doctors and nurses at the University of Michigan West, and Faith Hospice for their very wonderful care for her in her final days. The family welcomes memories and messages at www.kubiakcookwayland.com in Evelyn’s online guest book.
