Elizabeth (Liz) Ann Jackson, age 70, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully, in her home on May 9, 2020. Born June 3, 1949, she was the eldest daughter of Wellington and Dorothy (Burden) Jackson. A 1967 graduate of Thornapple-Kellogg High School, she embarked on a life of unceasing effort as a friend, mother, aunt, and grandmother.
She instilled in her children the value of a strong work ethic, self-reliance, and perseverance. At the same time, she also passed on to them her well-known and infectious sense of humor. One of her favorite pastimes seemed to be “teasing” her children (which didn’t end with their adulthood) and grandchildren, and making them laugh.
Well acquainted with athletics, she likely sat in every set of bleachers between here and the East Coast, as she supported her children and grandchildren’s participation in sports.
All of the effort she put into her family and her occupations were, without complaint, in spite of the continuous pain and debilitating effects of her nearly lifelong affliction with Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sisters Loralee (Barry) Hilligan and Linda Leedy; children Chad (Chris) Casey and Becky Holwerda (Jason Bence); grandchildren Mitchell Floyd, and Jackson and Taylor Casey; niece, Nicole Leedy and great-nephews Carter and Michael; and nephew, Jim (Kiley) Hilligan and great-nephews Hunter and Connor.
She will also be greatly missed by Bill Holwerda and Bob Floyd, to whom the family is greatly appreciative of their love, care, and support of Liz throughout the years.
A memorial service will be held at the family farm, on a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Allegan County Animal Shelter or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
