Charles, the firstborn of Renzie E. Hurse Jr. and Christine Hurse Jackson, was born on October 1, 1953. Charles was a lifelong resident of Benton Harbor, Michigan. Charles was baptized in and attended the Church of Christ, 1451 E. Main Street, Benton Harbor, Michigan 49022. Charles attended Benton Harbor Area Schools until the age 17. At just 17, Charles left Benton Harbor to serve his country in the United States Army from 1972 - 1974.
Charles enjoyed playing football at Hull School and walking his younger siblings to school and back home. Charles also loved his music, such as Miles Davis and The Temptations. However, what Charles loved the most was food; Charles loved to eat.
Charles leaves behind to mourn his loving memories his father, Renzie E. Hurse Jr. of Benton Harbor, Michigan; brother, Jimmie L. Hurse of Detroit, Michigan; sister, Renee (Charles) Isom of Ypsilanti, Michigan; three nieces Akeya (Chris) Tatum of Atlanta, Georgia, Becky Hurse of Jacksonville, Florida, and Christel Hayes of Detroit, Michigan; nephew, Gabriel Hayes of Ypsilanti, Michigan; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews, and one great-great nephew.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Christine Hurse-Jackson; sister, Cynthia A. Hurse; nephew, Willie E. R. Hurse; maternal grandparents Patrick Alexander and Rosie Alexander-Smith; and paternal grandparents Renzie Sr. and Pearl Hurse.
