Dick was a graduate of Mansfield High School in Mansfield, PA. He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard for eight years. Dick was an entrepreneur who owned and operated many businesses including co-owning Husted Pallets in Roseville, PA and Blue Lake Builders Construction. He drove truck for numerous trucking companies and was also the code enforcement officer for the Town of Dix until his retirement in 2016.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Edna; sister, Shirley Bailey; children, Rick of Painted Post, John of Buffalo, Dale (Deb) of Caton, and Joel (Stacy) of Montour Falls, Kim LaRue of Hammondsport, Linda Gregory of Watkins Glen, Greg (Lisa) LaRue of Elmira Heights and Diane (Charlie) Foster of New Jersey; Twelve Grandchildren, Six Great Grandchildren; brother in law, Fred (Monalee) Johnston; several Nieces and Nephews; and special friends, Ben, Diane and Travis Bond.
Richard was preceded in death by; Parents Elvira and John Husted; First wife, Freda Johnston Husted; sister, Tess Beard; brothers, Gordon, Mike, Ed, John, and Joe Husted; and grandson, Kyle E. Gregory.
Friends and family may call from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, November 1st, 2018 at Haughey Wood Funeral Home, 119 5th St, Watkins Glen, NY 14891. His funeral service will follow at 7pm at the funeral home. Interment with Military Honors will be held at 11am Friday, November 2nd at Lakeview Cemetery, Watkins Glen, NY.
