Eileen Joy Symes

Eileen Joy Symes, age 73, of Burdett, NY went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 12, 2012, following a battle with Alzheimer's at Seneca View Skilled Nursing in Montour Falls, NY. Eileen was predeceased by her parents Mabel and William Fisher; her sisters, May Grover and Cora Murine Fredricks; and her step daughter, Renee Symes.

Eileen is survived by her loving husband, James Richard Symes; children, Teresa and Fred Letteer, Micheal and Peg Tomassi, Tammy and Wade Pike, and Lori and Wally Wasson; step son, David Symes; grandchildren, Dustin Letteer; Patrick and Aubrey Tomassi, Marissa, Amanda, and Mitchell Pike, and Johnathan Wasson; sister, Reda Fazzary; brother in law, Robert and Joyce Symes; and many nieces and nephews.

Eileen was raised in Valois, NY and went to Watkins Glen School. She was a homemaker and had many odd jobs, but mostly she concentrated on raising her family.

Friends and family may call from 4 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, April 18th, 2012 at the Haughey-Wood Funeral Home, 119 Fifth St., Watkins Glen. A memorial service celebrating her life will follow at 7pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Watkins Glen on Thursday, April 19th at 10am.

Eileen's family wishes to extend an appreciation to the staff and nurses at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility.
