1915 - 2017
WATERVILLE ---- William P. Brown, 101, of Waterville died September 18, 2017, at Inland Hospital in Waterville after a brief illness. He was born in Fairfield, December 20, 1915, a son of Peter and Mary (Stockmon) Brown. In the eighth grade, he quit school in order to help support his family.
He earned licenses as a boiler engineer and was employed at the Hollingsworth and Whitney Paper Mill in Winslow, Maine. He worked his entire life as a boiler maker, and later became the supervisor in that department.
He was an avid outdoors- man and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and spending long hours relaxing at his camp with family and friends on Lake Moxie, and hunting at his camp in Freedom, Maine. He was a life member of the Waterville Elks Club.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Bushey and her husband Lee, Ellen Gerlach and her husband Gerald, a son, Patrick and his wife Linda; seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. He is also survived by his longtime friend, Germaine Bell and his dear friend Nick. He was predeceased by his wife, Constance M. (O’Donnell) Brown, his parents; brothers: George, John, Herman, and James; and his sisters, Mary and Christine.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lakewood Continuing Care Center, Inland Hospital, and Hospice of Maine in Waterville for all their loving care, kindness and support.
A time of Gathering and Visitation will be held on Monday September 25 from 1 – 2 pm with a Funeral Service at 2 pm at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm Street, Waterville. Interment will be at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville at a later date.
