Waterville - Marie Ann Morgan, 89, of Waterville joined God and her family on the morning of
December 23. She was a resident at Mount Saint Joseph. Marie was born in Waterville, the daughter of William and Laura Lizotte. She was the youngest of a large French family with five brothers and four sisters. She was brought up in the Head of Falls area. She, like her brothers and sisters, started work early in life at the Wyandotte Worsted Woolen Mill which was in her backyard. She later retired from Colby College.
Marie married her sweetheart Kenneth Leroy Morgan in Aberdeen, Maryland prior to the end of
World War II. They had a wonderful marriage of 63 years. They had two children, Diane and
William. Her pride and joy was her three grandchildren Katie, Christopher, and Michael. Mémère
and Pépère hosted many pool parties for them and helped create long lasting memories. She
also enjoyed many hours at their sporting events and school functions. Marie was very active in bowling and was a member of the Waterville Bowling Association’s “Wall of Fame.” She bowled in senior tournaments as far as Reno, Nevada. She was also active in the American Legion Auxiliary.
“I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on the
snow. I am the sunlight that ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn's rain. When you awaken in
the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush, Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft star
that shines at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there; I did not die.”
-- Irish funeral prayer
