She was born on August 12, 1932 in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Junius Milton and Mary Lillian Crowder. She graduated from Eddystone High School, Pennsylvania in 1950 where she met the love of her life, James J. Ferrigan, Jr., whom she was married to for 35 years, until his passing in 1987. They leave a loving legacy that will continue on for generations to come.
Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her whole life. She instilled in all of us a strong sense of family, honesty, courage, respect and most of all unconditional love. Even though she was a private person she was very giving to family, friends and the community. Joan enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, gardening, painting and road trips with her children. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
She leaves behind her children, James and wife Henrietta, Denise and husband Gregory, Sharon and husband Michael, Kevin and partner Ann, Michelle and husband Rex, Brian and wife Kelly, David and partner Penny, Maureen and husband Jim, Sean and partner Dennis. Also surviving are her four siblings, sister Jeanette L. Mackey, brother Donald M. Crowder, sister Dorothy A. Koontz and brother Richard A. Crowder; twenty-four grandchildren, Daniel, Angela, Michael, James, Christopher, Gregory, Kevin, Justin, Rachel, Tara, John, Brian, Kathleen, Marc, Matthew, Danielle, Kristen, Stephen, Sara, Connor, Taylor, Riley, Alex, Mikki, Joey and eighteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by her parents, husband, baby girl (our angel) and grandson, Ryan.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from 9:30-11 a.m. at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. A private interment will follow at the Augusta Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.
