William (Bill) Francis Haas of Broad Channel, Queens, New York, left this world after a prolonged illness on March 20th, 2019 at Poughkeepsie, New York. In accordance with Bill’s written, expressed wishes internment was immediately after death.
Bill was born in his parents’ Maspeth, Queens home on May 9th 1939 to William and Eleanor Haas (nee Ingber). He attended Miraculous Medal Grammar School and Grover Cleveland High School. Bill was employed by AT& T, and although he retired from the company some time ago, he still was the family “go-to” guy for everything electronic. After retiring from AT&T, Bill worked for many years with Meals on Wheels providing foodstuffs and much appreciated company to the clients he served. Bill always gave of his time. Besides enjoying the company of his beloved springer spaniel, Bill loved to celebrate life’s events with family and friends. He was present at every family holiday, birthday or a celebration. Bill’s most favorite gathering was the Christmas party he hosted each year. It was an epic event in every sense of the word; from the food, to the company, to the new gadget he shared with the younger family members. Bill’s annual Christmas party brought together generations of family and friends to celebrate the holiday, the year’s joys and sorrows and most importantly each other. Bill hosted his legendary Christmas parties for more than 30 years, providing those he loved with a lifetime of memories. His presence will be greatly missed at all of our family gatherings in the years to come.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, loving in-laws, his long-time good friend, Robert McBride and Bill’s beloved springer spaniel, Springer.
Bill is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Jamieson & Margaret McCoy, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and two great grand-nephews in addition to many friends.
