Susan Ann Bowman

Susan (Susie) Ann Bowman of Rock Tavern, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 13, 2024, following a prolonged battle with cancer. She was 71.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, to Cecilia and Arthur Bisang on June 10, 1952, Susie spent her childhood in Brooklyn and graduated from Erasmus Hall High School.

Susie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She married husband, Kenneth, on Dec. 16, 1973. She also leaves behind daughter, Kimberly, and her husband, Israel Perez, and their son, Nicholas, as well as son, Shayne, and his wife, Leza. She was a loving sister to Cecilia Zollner, Robert Bisang, and Linda Adamonis. She was adored by her nephews, nieces, great nieces, great nephews and scores of cousins.

Susie worked for over 30 years in the Washingtonville Central School District’s High School as a Librarian’s Aide. She thoroughly enjoyed working with the children and even after retirement continued to talk about all the good years and positive relationships forged with administrators, teachers, parents, and especially students who came through the door of the school library. To her co-workers, friends, and family, Susie was known for her infectious smile, kindness, integrity, and dedication–and her welcoming embrace to all.

Susie’s passion for life was underscored by her resilience, positivity, toughness, and deep faith that was fully evident throughout her long illness. Susie lived for her family, which was everything to her, and devoted her free time to family and faithfully stood by friends.

Susie was a parishioner at St. Mary's Church in Washingtonville for 48 years.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. There are no words for their compassion and kindness.

Visitation hours at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North Street, Washingtonville, NY, 10992, will be held on Wednesday, January 17, from 3:00pm – 7:00pm. A funeral Mass, followed by burial, will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 454 Germantown Road, West Milford, NJ, 07480, on Thursday, January 18, beginning 12:00 noon
