and grandnephew James at his side, at the home of his niece Christine Hannon in Denver NC
where she, her sister Fanny and their families were caring for him.
Born in Bronx, NYC April 23, 1928 he was the son of Joseph McKeown and Christine Quinn.
Upon graduating high school he enlisted in the US Navy for four years including the final year of
World War II. Returning from his years in the navy, he joined the FDNY completing 22 years of
service there. For over 30 years, he was a devoted son to his mother Christine, caring for her
until her death in 1994. He truly was a gentleman with a kind spirit.
In 1991, Robert married the love of his life Dolores with his cousin Buddy, a Catholic priest
performing the ceremony. He and Dolores enjoyed 12 years together in Sun City Center,
Florida most of the year and in Port Jervis NY for the summers.
Robert was an accomplished golfer competing in many tournaments over the years and
accomplishing several times the coveted “hole in one”. He played golf until the age of 93 and
once he stopped he took up bowling and bowled his last game August 1st, 2024 attaining his
best game with a score of 212. He was also a loyal fan of the NY Yankees.
He was predeceased by his parents, wife Dolores, sister Veronica Hannon and brothers
Thomas and Joseph.
He is survived by his devoted nieces Christine and Fanny.
At 9:00 am there will be a gathering of family and friends prior to the funeral mass at the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home in Washingtonville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday October 8, 2024 at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Harriman NY. Burial will follow at St. Anastasia Cemetery.
