Joseph S. Martorano

Joseph S. Martorano, age 82, passed away peacefully with his nephew Sonny Martorano, by his side on November 20, 2021. Joseph was born on February 21,1939 in Brooklyn, NY to Mildred (mother) and Benjamin (father) Martorano. Joseph is predeceased by his brother Salvatore Martorano. Joseph later moved to Montrose NY where he graduated from Hendrick Hudson High school. After High School, Joseph joined the Navy. Joseph was stationed in Italy where he spent five years serving our country. When Joseph returned home he spent many years working at the family restaurant “Benny’s Charcoal Pit” which was formed in Montrose NY and later moved to Peekskill NY. After working for the restaurant, Joseph spent his life in the horse racing industry. Joseph met many people along the way that became lifelong friends.

Joseph is survived by his loving caregivers and family members, Salvatore (Sonny), Kim and Kristina Martorano. Joseph is also survived by his son Joseph (wife Rosella) Martorano, Grandsons Joseph and Kevin and Great Grandson Samuel, all who reside in Italy. Niece Victoria Martorano, Great niece Maia Williams and Great Nephew AJ (Andre) Williams.

A graveside service for Joseph will be held Friday, November 26, 2021 at Assumption Cemetery, 1055 Oregon Road, Cortlandt Manor, New York 10567.
