Born July 10, 1938 to Peter and Edna Rader. Jack served as a navigator for the United States Navy from 1956-1959. In 1960, he became a clerk for the Greenwood Lake Post Office, eventually becoming Postmaster from 1982-1992.
Jack was a devoted parishioner at the Holy Rosary Church for over 80 years.
Jack met the love of his life, his soulmate and best friend, Janet, in Greenwood Lake in the summer of 1963 and they have been happily married for 58 beautiful years.
Jack is a Life member of the Greenwood Lake Ambulance Corps, where he served since 1959 as past President, Captain and Director.
He is also a Life member of the Greenwood Lake Fire Department for 64 years, serving as Treasurer, past President, Captain and Commissioner.
Jack, along with his close friend, John Pighini, started the Greenwood Lake Food Pantry in 1982 at Jack and Janet's family home and eventually grew to what it is today.
Jack is survived by his wife Janet at home. His four children, John and his wife Tracey, Donna and her husband Gerry, Sandy and her husband Edgar, Janmarie and her husband Greg.
Jack is also survived by his grandchildren, John and his wife Kelsey, Tyler, Cameron, Carly, Kelsey, Kylie, Robbie, Angie and Jackie.
And his great-grandchildren Anthony, Carter, Khalia and Paige.
Jack was predeceased by his parents Peter and Edna and his brother Peter.
Jack was a friend to everyone he met and was known for his golden heart that will forever live on through his family and all of the lives he touched. He will be sorely missed by all.
A visitation will be held for Jack on:
Monday, October 2, 2023 from 3pm-7pm at Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lake, 41 Windermere Ave., Greenwood Lake, NY 10925.
Mass will take place Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 11am at Holy Rosary Church.
Burial will follow at Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: The Greenwood Lake Ambulance Corps, The Greenwood Lake Fire Department and The Greenwood Lake Food Pantry.
