John was born on January 12, 1970 to John Selah Hulse, Jr. and the late Janet (Vakiener) Hulse. No one loved a good practical joke more than John. Before getting ill John was a dare devil. He enjoyed doing demolition derbies, participated in a school bus race and went sky diving. John was a dedicated dispatcher of the Washingtonville Central School District and spent most of his adult life caring for the students, parents and staff of the Washingtonville community. He especially loved working with the kids from the Masque & Mime Drama Club.
John was a loyal friend who was always there when you needed a helping hand. Those who knew John could always count on being greeted with his signature “How we doing sunshine” or ending a conversation with “cool beans, no worries”. He was a “Wheeler and Dealer” who always had something in the works.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dawn M. Hulse; step-son, Thomas Knizak and step-daughter, Michelle Bluemle; caring sister, Karen Flores and his adoring granddaughter, Lilliana and his cherished niece and nephew, Sydney and Alexander. He is also survived by his loving Dachshund “Sasha”.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 2-4 pm and 7-8 pm at the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North St., Washingtonville, NY. A Celebration of his life will take place at 8:00 pm also at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, www.jdrf.org/site/Donation.
