Henry A. Zenker passed away July 8, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, New York. He was 96 years old. Henry was born September 12, 1921 in Patchogue, Long Island, New York, son of Henry A. Zenker and Barbara Stehle. He was brought up in Patchogue and Brooklyn, New York City. Henry met his wife Beverly Engels at the Carroll Club for Catholic Girls in NYC where she was acting in a play. They married on November 3, 1951 at St. Theresa’s Church in Woodside, Queens, and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2016. Beverly passed away February 7, 2017. In 1962, Henry and Beverly, with five children, moved from Jackson Heights, Queens, NYC into a new home on former pasturelands surrounded by dairy farms south of the village of Washingtonville. Henry was employed by Devenco Inc., in NYC, an electronics research and development firm, where he built prototypes of electronic equipment requisitioned by the US government for use in the Cold War, Space Race and the VIetnam War. He retired as a supervisor of civilian electronic technicians in the Electrical Engineering Department of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He is survived by son Stephen, his primary caregiver at home in Washingtonville; son Drew, and spouse Christina, of Lehighton, PA; son Michael, and spouse Mary, of West Coxsackie, NY; daughter Jane, and spouse Jeff Richter, of North Lima, OH. Grandchildren, Andrew Zenker, Julia Zenker, Emily and spouse Solomon Sok, Noah Zenker and spouse Abby, Anna Zenker, Evan Zenker, Laura Zenker, Rebecca Zenker Charlotte Zenker, Benjamin Richter, Jenna and spouse James Gray. Great grandchildren, Micah Sok, Jediah Sok, Nathan Zenker, Jack Zenker, and Owen “Baby O’’ Gray. He is predeceased by parents, his wife Beverly, and his beloved son Christopher. Henry was a great Dad who loved and cared deeply for his children. We all loved him so much. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 11, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM, at David T. Ferguson Funeral Home, 20 North St., Washingtonville, NY, 10992. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 42 Goshen Ave., Washingtonville, NY with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery also of Washingtonville, NY.
