Ellen Mary Gleason, a resident of Campbell Hall, passed away on June 3, 2023. She was 76. Ellen was born on October 27, 1946 in Suffern, NY to the late Lige and Joan (Stanton) Culwell. She worked as a Hab Tech II for the Developmentally disabled for the State of New York at Letchworth Village. She also worked at the ARC in Kingston, NY.
Ellen was married to Hartson Gleason for 55 years. Two peas in a pod, they traveled together, and enjoyed dinning at new restaurants. Ellen received a certificate of appreciation from the United States Army for her Support of the soldiers during the Vietnam War.
Ellen was very creative she loved to sew clothes for her kids when they were little along with homemade Halloween costumes.
Ellen had a small business named Friends of Mine in the 90's she created handmade fabric dolls. She would attend juried art shows and sell out at each show.
Ellen was also a fantastic painter she attended many painting classes from top painters for Toll Painting. She also taught a few classes of her own she was that good.
Ellen also enjoyed quilting wether it was a large quilt, or small pot holder they always held a certain charm.
Ellen was also a long time member of the Kawanis Club in Saugerties, NY. She was president of the Kawanis club for several years.
Ellen also donated some of her personal time for Meals on Wheels of New York.
Ellen loved family gatherings with all her children and grandchildren. She loved gardening and reading. Ellen loved watching Mystery and SyFy movies. Murder She Wrote, Matlock, Columbo, Poirot, Shakespeare and Hathaway and Miss Marple on Brit Box. She loved the Alien movies and weird yet funny SyFy originals on the SyFy network. :)
She is survived by her Husband Hartson Gleason of Campbell Hall, NY, son Matthew Gleason of Saugerties, NY, daughter Cynthia Gleason of Warwick, NY, daughter Heather Berry and husband William Berry of New Windsor NY, daughter Jaimie Rodriguez of Campbell Hall, NY and her lovely grandchildren Nora Agosto of Newburgh, NY, Meghan Mikesh of West Hurley, NY, Laura Crowe of New Windsor, NY, Ivan and David Rodriguez of Campbell Hall, NY and William Berry Jr of New Windsor, NY.
She was predeceased by Mother Joan Stanton and Father Lige Cullwell, Brother Daniel Culwell and Clifford Culwell
A memorial service for Ellen is scheduled at David T Ferguson Funeral Home in Washingtonville, NY on
June 17, 11am-1pm and 4-6pm.
