Donald Michael Fisher was born to the late Raymond and Sarah Fisher in Manhattan, NY on February 25th, 1947. He was the youngest of five sons; Raymond, Thomas, Paul, and Richard. He was devoted to his Catholic faith and he was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus. He retired from the NYC Sanitation Department after 21 and a half years and retired again from his second career as a Washingtonville school bus driver after 19 and a half years.
Donald was blessed with a loving family. He proposed to the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Reilly, after five weeks of dating and they were married on March 10th, 1973 in Brooklyn, NY. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this March. Donald and Mary raised three children with love, discipline and values. He taught them the importance of appreciating what they have and how we have the ability to help the less fortunate. He was extremely hard working and highly enjoyed a good game of darts, bowling, pool and horseshoes. While Alzheimer’s deprived him of most, he never forgot his family and the love he had for them.
Donald is survived by his wife, Mary; his son, Donovan (Denise); his daughters, Laura Keller (Kevin) and Suzy Dowling (Eddie); his grandchildren, Brendan Keller and Emersyn Rose Dowling.
In his memory, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
