January 2, 1963 – April 11, 2024
Christopher John Farias, beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many -- and a person with needs died peacefully on April 11, 2024. After weeks of family making their final goodbyes, Chris left this earth at 63 leaving many memories for his family to cherish his love of life, food, and family events. Ones to cherish and to hold in our hearts as we carry the sadness in the loss of a beautiful person.
Chris was born on January 2, 1961 in Ossining, NY as first son to Edith and Humberto (John) Farias. He is survived by sisters Shirley Conklin, Isabel DeMars, Diane Sellazzo, Michelle Kosilla, Gabrielle Crandall, Stephanie Williams and brother Gregory Farias and Margaret Sollish deceased. Additionally numerous (including great) nieces and nephews, He lived a mostly joyful and fulfilling life despite some physical challenges. Chris had love for all—not a mean bone in his body.
Christopher admired his dad, adored his mom, loved his 7 sisters, brother and all his nieces and nephews. Family was precious to him. Babies melted his heart—and there were many in the family of 9 siblings. He would go out of his way to shake the hands of children. Christmas was his favorite time of year, and Santa Claus was the man! On car rides to nowhere, jamming to 70’s rock and roll music with the roof down and wind blowing in his hair was a great way to spend a lazy afternoon. Christopher enjoyed superhero and science fiction movies and comic books - Superman being his favorite character. His favorite sitcom was Three and a Half Men. Weddings, parties, girls, dancing until midnight was a favorite way to have fun. As a Yankee fan, he loved watching and cheering on the team. Swimming for exercise was fun as was walking with family. Christopher participated in the Special Olympics and took great pride in competing to win. But most of all, Christopher was content with a good cup of hot coffee and hanging out with his family, along with all the chatter, laughter, and confusion that comes with such a large family.
Christopher’s Christian faith was an essential part of his life as he followed his Catholic journey and traditions though Confirmation and attended mass when he could. Our loving Christopher went to his eternal home as a heavenly angel resting in peace.
