Tigran Sanamyan, 63, passed away on November 12, 2017, surrounded by his family. Tigran was born in Yerevan, Armenia, where he earned his Ph.D. in physics. He and his family emigrated to the United States twenty years ago, where he had a long career as a laser physicist, for a number of years at Boston Laser, Inc. and more recently at the Army Research Lab at the U.S. Department of Defense.
Tigran is survived by his wife, Lisa Torosyan, a health scientist at the Food and Drug Administration; their daughter, Armine Sanamyan, an attorney, and her husband, Michael Denny; as well as his mother, Anna, and his brothers, Armen and Eduard, and their families. Tigran is also survived by a wide circle of well-loved family and friends.
Tigran was boundlessly dedicated to his family and his profession, and was passionate for music and chess. He enriched our lives with his never-ending humor, his piano playing, his intellect and his gift for conversation. His family is comforted by the richness of his memory and legacy.
A gathering in remembrance of Tigran will be held on Saturday, November 18, from 4 to 7pm, at Joseph Gawler’s Sons funeral home, 5130 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington, DC 20016.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the American Cancer Society or the Casey House at Montgomery Hospice.
