Teresa Bailey Otero passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025 in Chevy Chase, MD. She was born in La Paz, Bolivia on March 27, 1927. She was predeceased by her husband, Rene Otero and her sons, Francisco, Juan Pablo, Rene, and Fernando. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law; Cecilia, Maria (Joseph), BB (Fernando), Carola (Andrew), Lucia (Paul), and daughters-in-law, Carmen, Susan, Linda, and Dana. Teresa was a devoted mother to her nine children, and a loving abuela to her 19 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, William, Humberto, and Charles Bailey and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 5949 Western Ave, NW, Washington, DC 20015 on Friday, March 28 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Organization for Youth Empowerment Teresa Fund 3351 18th St NW Washington DC 20010 or the Association of Bolivian Women 200 N Pickett St Apt 702 Alexandria VA 22304.
